Our Story

Our Story

People need real connection.
For years, we kept hearing the same thing from friends, neighbours, and community members—despite social media and constant ways to stay “connected,” many people felt more alone than ever.

Loss made it personal.
After the passing of our dad, followed by a season of uncertainty and separation, that feeling became even more real. The word that stayed with us was alone.

The pandemic confirmed it.
When isolation became part of everyday life, we knew people needed more than screens—they needed support, movement, and spaces that felt human.

We listened first.
A small focus group was brought together to ask one question: What do people need right now? The answer was clear—connection, community, and meaningful ways to gather.

That was the beginning of The Parlour Project.
Named after the parlour of an 1895 family home once used for gathering, music, and conversation, the project launched online during lockdown.

Community stepped forward.
Neighbours, teachers, leaders, and local people offered circles, classes, conversations, and support when it was needed most.

We grew with purpose.
As life reopened, gatherings returned in person—first in the parlour, then in the restored Coach House, and now through both in-house and off-site programs.

What we offer today.
Community gatherings, youth meetups, movement and recovery programs, practical wellness support, and North Star adult camp weekends in Northern Ontario featuring land-based teachings, outdoor skills, fitness, and time in nature.

What has never changed.
To bring people together in real ways, help them grow stronger, and remind them they are not alone.

Good people. Solid programs. Real community.
